Marco humored requests to stop and take pictures of grapes. He actually stopped at a couple of roadside vineyards and grabbed clusters of Plavac Mali and Vugava grapes for us to taste (Michael noted that people could be shot for this in Napa). In WW2, the island was a site of strategic importance for the Allies. From the 70s to the 90s, the communists had secret military installations all over the island. |
