Sailing in Croatia

We flew to Dubrovnik via Dulles to Munich to Zagreb to Dubrovnik. Zagreb appears to be a Soviet era terminal and amazingly small considering it is the capital of Croatia. No other planes besides ours were on the tarmac and our flight to Dubrovnik was to leave in 20 minutes. We disembarked, took bus to terminal, cleared customs, cleared security, then got back on the bus which took us to the same plane.

The Dubrovnik Airport is also small. We looked for our pre-arranged ride to ACI Marina but it never arrived. Fortunately we had not pre-paid and got a taxi to the marina. The same company was supposed to bring Jennifer and Jason from the airport 3 hours later, also did not show.
 

Our boat is a 41 foot Jeaneau, Arcturus, 3 cabin, 2 head. The 3rd cabin is our storage locker. After unpacking, we went to what is euphemistically referred to as a supermarket to provision. Konzum is a chain in Croatia. Safeway it is not.

Not sure how many boats are provisioning at this time but there are 5 boats in a 2-week flotilla and 10 boats in a 1-week flotilla all leaving Monday. The store, sort of a minimart on steroids, was picked clean of lunchmeat and other foods. We picked up some staples. Our plan is to mostly eat breakfast and lunch aboard, then have dinner ashore.
 

 

 

 

After a boat briefing about charter in general, pre-charter boat inspection, unpacking and provisioning, Jason sprung for a taxi to the Old Town. We walked into the old town center, the stone streets shiny in the lights, filled with people.
