Today was the second of the two long transit days in the itinerary. We woke up to 24 knot winds, but on the nose. The 3 other boats blocking us in from the previous day were gone. To leave, dock handlers held port lines as we backed out and around the end of the dock, where they released the lines. Once in the open water, we began to plow through the 3-4 foot waves and started the long motor trip down the southeastern coast of the island of Korcula. As we left Sveta Nedjelja, couldn't help but look up at the vineyards planted on the steep, steep slopes above the village of Sveta Nedjelja. Can't even imagine how difficult it must be to tend these vines, let alone harvest the grapes. |
