The Powder Tower is one of the original 13 city gates in Old Town. Construction began in 1475. The tower was intended to be an attractive entrance into the city, instead of a defensive tower. The gate was used to store gunpowder in the 17th century, hence the name Powder Tower or Powder Gate.
House at the Minute (Dum U Minuty), a historic Renaissance townhouse located on Old Town Square. The facade is decorated with elaborate sgraffito plasterwork depicting biblical and mythological scenes, as well as legends from the Renaissance period. It is famous for being the home where author Franz Kafka lived with his family during his childhood from 1889 to 1896.
Bedrich Smetana Museum, dedicated to the life and works of famous Czech composer Bedrich Smetana (1824–1884).
U Flavínu burgher house. (The burgher class was a social class consisting of municipal residents, that is, free persons subject to municipal law, formed in the Middle Ages. Modern sociology uses the term middle class.)
