Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia. It’s surrounded by vineyards and the Little Carpathian mountains. The reconstructed Bratislava Castle overlooks the pedestrian-only, 18th-century old town.
Michael's Gate (Michalská brána) in the historic Old Town of Bratislava, Slovakia. Built around the year 1300, it is the only remaining city gate from Bratislava's medieval fortifications and features a distinct copper-topped Baroque tower. The tower stands 150 feet high and is crowned by a statue of St. Michael slaying the dragon.
The tower in the background belongs to the Roman Catholic Parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, while the white building on the right features the historic Old Town Hall (Stará radnica)

The Small Carpathian Museum (Malokarpatské múzeum v Pezinku) is a local museum with an emphasis on wine making. The museum features a cellar with the biggest collection of viticulture presses in Europe, temporary exhibitions on various topics, workshops for schools and Small Carpathian wine tasting. It is one of the stops on the Small Carpathian Wine Road. |
