Mirabell Palace is a historic building and with its gardens is a listed cultural heritage monument and part of the Historic Centre of the City of Salzburg UNESCO World Heritage Site. The palace was built about 1606.
St Peter's Abbey (Stiftskirche St. Peter) is a Benedictine monastery and former cathedral. It is considered one of the oldest monasteries in the German-speaking area and the oldest with a continuous history since its foundation in 696. The abbey and its cemetary were the basis of the escape scenes in the film The Sound of Music. |
