The Hüterhaus, also known as the Vinotake im Torwächterhaus, a small wine shop and tasting room.
During his return from the Crusades in the early 1190s, English king Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned at Dürnstein Castle because he insulted the Babenberg Duke, Leopold V by showing disrespect to the Austrian flag. He was finally released after the paying of a ransom of 35,000 kg of silver. The legend is that Blondel, a minstrel of Richard's French aide, discovered the place of Richard's imprisonment by singing the first part of a love-song that Richard and he had composed together, and hearing the voice of Richard continuing the song in response. This statue honors that legend.
