Vajdahunyad Castle was built in 1896 as part of the Millennial Exhibition which celebrated the 1,000 years of Hungary since the Hungarian Conquest of the Carpathian Basin in 895. Originally, it was made from cardboard and wood, but it became so popular that it was rebuilt from stone and brick between 1904 and 1908. Today, it houses the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture.

The Dohány Street Synagogue, also known as the Great Synagogue or Tabakgasse Synagogue, was built between 1854 and 1859. It is the largest synagogue in Europe, seating 3,000 people and is a centre of Neolog Judaism.
The Dohány Street Synagogue complex consists of the Great Synagogue, the Heroes' Temple, the graveyard, the Wallenberg Memorial Park and the Jewish Museum. Dohány Street itself carries strong Holocaust connotations as it constituted the border of the Budapest Ghetto.
