Igreja de São Paulo (St. Paul's Church), also called the Church of Our Lady of Help, dates from 1606, during the reign of Philip II. In front of the church is the Dr. Padinha square with the statue of Dom Marcelino Franco, the Bishop of Algarve; Franco held his position from 1871 to 1955.
Igreja da Misericórdia de Tavira (Church of Mercy of Tavira) was built between 1541 and 1551 and is considered to be one of the best examples of Renaissance architecture on the Algarve. |
