Igreja de Santo António (Church of Saint Anthony) was originally constructed in 1707 and was rebuilt in 1769.
The Mercado de Escravos (Slave Market) is located on the site where the first slave market in Europe of the modern era took place, in 1444. The building was first used for military administration and, later, as a customs house. In 2016, the whole building was occupied by a museum dedicated to the story of slavery.
A statue of King Sebastião is in the center of Plaza Gil Eannes, opposite the main facade of the Town Hall. It's a modern statue built in 1973 of King Sebastian, who granted the title of city to Lagos in 1573 and disappeared in 1578 on a military mission to Morocco.
