The Greeks have ouzo, the Italians have grappa, the Russians have vodka, the Japanese have sake, and the Portuguese - particularly Lisboneans - sip ginjinha.
Ginja is a sweet cherry liqueur that originated in Lisbon. It is a sweet red liqueur made from sour cherries soaked in aguardente, a distilled spirit, and flavored with sugar and cinnamon. Even though it's served in a small shot glass, it isn't a shot: a ginjinha is meant to enjoy in small sips.
