Louis XIV’s death
The Eiffel Tower is on the Champ de Mars. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. It was constructed from 1887 to 1889 as the entrance to the 1889 World's Fair. The Eiffel Tower is the most-visited paid monument in the world. The tower is 1,063 feet tall, about the same height as an 81-story building, and the tallest structure in Paris.
